Research Blog: Music Video Conventions
There are many different conventions in the song genre I have chosen. The song genre of Grenade by Bruno Mars is of R&B. In this genre many conventions are involved. Such as the type of lights you are expected to see in a R&B music video. For example depending on the song it can be very bright lights that pop out at you to grab your attention. Another type of light you are to see in an R&B music video be very dim lights to give the aspect of the song if it starts off as a slow song. Lastly the natural lighting could be used because another type of light is not needed for the music video. Another type of convention is the start of a good majority of R&B songs is the start of the music video. Some music videos start off with a dialogue starting the song up to 10-20 seconds after the dialogue is over. This gives transition into the depth of the song making you wanting to see what happens next as the song is going on. Another convention would be the clothing the male and females are wearing. Some times they will appear with less clothing. This makes them more appealing to the audience. Gaining more viewers and likes to the song. Sharing it across the internet.
